Covid19 Protocol Update

September 2021

Abby Senior Living continues to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the health and safety of our residents and staff as our top priority. As such, all of our communities are following the following protocol:

  • All eligible residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19*
  • All eligible associates have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19*
  • All guests are required to wear a mask, and undergo a health screening before entering our communities

We will notify you if any residents or staff are diagnosed with COVID-19. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out via email cs@abbysl.com or phone 346-233-0479.

*Consideration is being given for verified medical and religious exceptions.

March 24, 2021

We are recipients of the State’s and Federal’s COVID-19 Phase 1-A immunization program, having completed two vaccination cycles for staff and residents.

We allow expanded visitation with the following protocol in place.

  • Our doors will be open to visitors and residents are able to leave the community to attend events outside the community.
  • All guests will continue to sign-in when entering the community and complete a screening consisting of answering a few questions and temperature screening. This process allows us to complete contact tracing if necessary.
  • Masks during visitation while in any common area or hallway are required. We are no longer required to have restrictions on age or limit the number of guests visiting a resident. We caution you to use best judgement regarding the number of visitors at one time.
  • Our dining room will be open for up to 100% capacity. We are requesting residents sit at the same table/chair for each meal so we are able to perform contact tracing if necessary. If you are wanting to dine with your loved one we are requiring that you dine in the apartment.
  • We are no longer requiring quarantine upon return from social visits outside the community. We will continue to monitor temperature 2 times per day for residents residing in Assisted Living.
  • We are committed to the safety of those moving into our community and new employees who have not been vaccinated. Currently part of our move-in and new employee procedures require COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of move-in or employment.
  • Activities in the community will return to pre-pandemic levels. Masks at events will continue to be required as a condition of attendance. Currently we welcome guests and family members in residents’ private apartments only.

March 23, 2020

As we continue to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the health and safety of our residents and staff as our top priority. We understand your concern about the spread of this disease and how it may impact us here at The Vincent, and we are taking enhanced preventative measures to prevent the virus from entering our community. We are very thankful that we do not have any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at The Vincent, however, we need your help in battling this virus.

In accordance with recommendations from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are implementing a variety of preventative measures to protect our community and will continue to remain in close contact with state and local government health authorities. Effective immediately and until further notice, The Vincent has implemented the following protocols:

  • Community visitors are restricted to only essential personnel, those providing medically necessary care or delivering essential supplies. These visits will still require screening prior to entering the community.
  • If there are extenuating circumstances in which a family member needs to visit a loved one, we ask that you please contact the Executive Director beforehand – these visits are required to take place in the resident’s apartment.
  • Except for medically necessary purposes, resident transportation outside of the community has been suspended
  • To limit potential exposure, we will utilize 3rd party delivery services for prescriptions and groceries at the resident’s request

These operational changes were made after careful deliberation to best protect the health and wellbeing of our residents and staff. Social distancing is the recommended preventative practice, so we have adopted this concept at The Vincent.

We understand that visits from loved ones are an important part of our residents’ lives, and there are a variety of ways that you might consider connecting with them. In addition to traditional communication via phone, email or text messaging, we have supplied The Vincent with community iPads that are setup for FaceTime and other video chat applications. We encourage you to consider these remote alternatives for communicating with your loved ones.

The Vincent is continuing to follow the recommendations of the CDC on prevention steps, including strict handwashing procedures, and in indicated circumstances, wearing gowns and gloves when interacting with residents who are sick. We also are staying up-to-date with the CDC recommendations as they are updated. In addition, the Vincent staff is in close contact with the local and state health department, following their guidance regrading screening processes, visitation, and compliance to best protect residents who reside at The Vincent. We are posting signs on our entryway doors to notify visitors of the symptoms of COVID-19 and request that you not enter the building for social visits or if you are experiencing symptoms.
